This setting in Latin of the hymn of thanksgiving, interpolated with beautifully related texts in English by Thomas Campion and others, is strongly tonal but refreshingly original. Designed to complement Handel in festive mood, the orchestration matches that of Handel's Coronation Anthems (or, indeed, most of Handel's oratorios) with the addition of more percussion, and a piano instead of a harpsichord.
Choirs
SATB chorus, SS children's choir (semi-chorus)
Whilst the semi-chorus was written with children in mind, it could be sung by a body from within the main choir.
Orchestra
trumpets I, II, III (Bb); oboes I, II; bassoon I;
percussion (2 players); strings;
piano (or 3rd percussionist, playing xylophone and glockenspiel).
Duration: 35 minutes.
