This book (a primary source-reading) is a complete re-setting of the 1841 original Italian, comprising a biography of Mayr (with an account of his trip back to Bavaria in 1838), Mayr's catalogue of works to 1827, poetic eulogies to the composer by eminent Bergamasks and friends, and a list of the original subscribers.
An English translation is printed alongside the original Italian of the biography and catalogue.
A second version, with a German translation alongside the original text is also available.

| The actual 'componimenti', the eulogies, which were important to friends and admirers at the time and which form a substantial part of the book, have not been translated. The cost of the publications would be out of proportion with the content of the eulogies, particularly when it is borne in mind that the factual information within them does not add to current general knowledge. The originals are, of course, character appraisals for the scholar. |

Dieses Buch (aus primärer Quelle), in vollständiger Neuauflage der italienischen Originalfassung von 1841, enthält eine Biographie von Mayr (mit einer Erzählung Ÿber seine Reise zurück nach Bayern in 1838), Mayrs Werkverzeichnis bis 1827, poetische Lobreden über den Komponisten von renommierten Bergamsken und Freunden und eine Liste von ursprünglichen Abonnenten.
Eine deutsche Übersetzung befindet sich parallel zu dem italienischen Original der Biographie and des Werkverzeichnisses.
Die eigentlichen 'componimenti', die Lobreden, welche für Freunde und Verehrer der Zeit wichtig waren, und welche einen grossen Teil des Buches ausmachen, sind nicht übersetzt. Sie sind natürlich Charakterbeurteilungen für den interessierten Wissenschaftler. Die Kosten, die diese Veröffentlichung ausmachen würde stehen nicht im Verhältnis zu dem Inhalt der Lobreden, besonders wenn man bedenkt, dass die Sachinformation in ihnen nicht zu jetzigem generellem Wissen beiträgt.
