Antonia Hilder was born in Portsmouth and was fascinated by local history from an early age. She studied English and Drama in London and qualified as a teacher. Although revelling in the life of London, the sound and smell of the sea eventually drew her back to Portsmouth where she still lives.
In 1983 she prepared Spice Island Pack for local children and in 1991 published two 'trails' using a school and its surroundings and the village of Wickham as historical resources. In 1993 she contributed to the publication, Learning Through Landscapes where a built environment is explored as a learning opportunity.
Antonia Hilder is involved in local charities and neighbourhood groups; she records Navy News for the blind, enjoys the theatre, concerts and armchair tennis! Reading, walking, samba drumming, archery and singing in a chamber choir; all feature among her many interests.
Janet Jackson was born in London and trained as a teacher at Nottingham. After qualifying, she moved to Portsmouth where she has lived ever since.
Inheriting her love of Art from talented parents, she has worked with pen, paint, charcoal and acrylics. Much of her inspiration comes from the natural environment.
A collection of light-hearted cartoons has been published, whilst a series of bird line-drawings is in hand. She enjoys walking, reading, singing,
making jewellery and working on her allotment.
